Ford Recalls Over 355,000 Trucks in the U.S. Over Dashboard Display Malfunction

Ford Motor Company has announced a major recall involving more than 355,000 trucks in the United States, following reports of a critical issue with the instrument panel display. The recall was confirmed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday.

The recall applies to specific 2025 and 2026 Super Duty models, including the F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, and F-550 SD, as well as the 2025 Ford F-150. These trucks are among Ford’s most popular models in the U.S. market, widely used for heavy-duty work, towing, and personal transportation.

The nature of the issue

At the center of the recall is the instrument panel cluster (IPC), a key digital system that controls what drivers see on their dashboards. The IPC manages information such as vehicle speed, fuel level, navigation guidance, and critical warning lights.

According to the NHTSA, the IPC in the affected vehicles may fail to display crucial data when the engine is started. This malfunction could mean that warning lights, speed indicators, or other vital messages do not appear, leaving drivers unaware of potential hazards or vehicle performance issues.

The safety authority has warned that not displaying critical information significantly increases the risk of a crash, particularly in fast-moving traffic situations or during long-distance driving where drivers rely heavily on dashboard feedback.

Ford’s response

Ford has acknowledged the defect and outlined its plan to address the problem. The company will issue a free software update to restore full IPC functionality. This fix can be applied in two ways:

• At authorized dealerships, where technicians will update the software.
• Over-the-air (OTA) updates, allowing customers to download the fix remotely without visiting a dealership.

Owners of the affected trucks will be notified directly by Ford with instructions on how to receive the update. The company has assured that the recall will not impose any cost on vehicle owners.
